The 22nd Congressional District of Texas is thriving, with a growing population and a flourishing economy. The district includes the majority of Fort Bend County, including most of the cities of Sugar Land, Missouri City, Rosenberg, Needville, and the county seat of Richmond, as well as the county’s share of the largely unincorporated Greater Katy area west of Houston. In addition, the district also contains portions of northern Brazoria County, including Pearland and Alvin, Wharton County, and Matagorda County, as well as a small portion of southeast Harris County centered on Friendswood.
TX-22 residents enjoy a tremendous quality of life, with exceptional schools, varied recreation, and a growing commercial sector – attributes that draw in the best and brightest, deepening our available talent pool. Our educated and highly skilled workforce is the number one reason businesses report moving to and expanding in TX-22. Fortune 500 companies, mid-size technology companies, and innovative start-ups all call TX-22 home.
Due to the district’s rapid growth, road construction and expansion have remained critical issues to ensure sufficient access to roads. I am proud to serve on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, which has jurisdiction over all modes of transportation and broad oversight of many federal agencies, including the Department of Transportation, the U.S. Coast Guard, Amtrak, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the General Services Administration, the Army Corps of Engineers, and others.
