Aviation Subcommittee Chairman Troy E. Nehls Votes to Advance T&I Committee Budget Reconciliation Proposal
WASHINGTON, D.C. —Aviation Subcommittee Chairman Troy E. Nehls (R-TX-22) released the following statement after voting “YES” to pass the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s budget reconciliation proposal:
“The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee did its part to deliver on President Trump’s agenda,” said Chairman Nehls. “This proposal provides over $12 billion in funding for air traffic control staffing and modernization. Folks, our ATC system is antiquated. The need to modernize this system is urgent, and we can’t delay taking action. This proposal provides the Trump Administration with the necessary resources to begin working to replace the existing ATC system with state-of-the-art technologies to make air travel safer and more efficient.
“Further, this proposal supports President Trump’s America First agenda by making historic investments in the United States Coast Guard to ensure they are equipped with the necessary tools to stop illegal aliens from entering our country, project American sovereignty in the Arctic, and protect our national security. This proposal cuts government waste by rescinding Green New Deal-style funding from the so-called Inflation Reduction Act and ensures that those who drive electric vehicles pay their fair share for their use of our highways.
"I commend Chairman Graves for his leadership throughout this process, and I look forward to working with him and the Trump Administration to make our transportation system great again.”
