Rep. Nehls Releases Statement After Voting in Favor of NDAA
Washington, DC — Today, Congressman Troy E. Nehls (R-TX-22) released a statement after voting in favor of S. 1605 - National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022. This bill authorizes appropriations for fiscal year 2022 for military activities of the Department of Defense (DOD), military construction, and military personnel strengths.
"I am proud to vote in favor of the NDAA, and in turn, vote in favor of a strong national defense," said Congressman Nehls. "This bill provides a 2.7% pay increase for our servicemembers, reverses President Biden's reckless cuts to military readiness, and restores critical funding for shipbuilding, procurement, and missile defense. I am pleased that this bill will NOT include harmful provisions such as requiring women to register for the Selective Service, "Red Flag" laws that prohibit firearm possession, requiring DOD contractors to pay a $15 per hour minimum wage, and removing the President as the Commander in Chief of the D.C. National Guard—all provisions that woke Leftists in Congress tried and FAILED to put in this bill."
"As someone who was deployed on three combat tours in the U.S. Army, I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. It is the duty of Congress to provide for the common defense of the United States and ensure that America's uniformed men and women receive the best support possible to carry out their mission to keep us safe. I am committed to ensuring that our armed forces, intelligence services, and federal law enforcement agencies have the resources they need to be efficient, ready, and lethal in this era of unprecedented threat and uncertainty."
