Rep. Nehls to Tucker Carlson: We Need Answers on the Death of Ashli Babbitt
Last night, Congressman Troy E. Nehls(R-TX-22) sat down with Tucker Carlson to discuss the botched investigation into the shooting and death of Ms. Ashli Babbitt. In the interview, Congressman Nehls explained the discrepancies in the case and the need for further investigation.
Congressman Nehls: "When I was a Sheriff, I've had officers, deputies, who have shot and killed people. I've had deputies shot. I have experience dealing with investigations and use-of-force issues. I have not talked to an officer anywhere across the country that felt what Lieutenant Michael Byrd did was justified. It wasn't, Tucker. It was murder."
The Congressman went on to discuss the double standard in use-of-force investigations based on political alignment.
Congressman Nehls: "I guarantee if the shooting would have taken place last Summer in one of our large cities during the riots, there would have been an indictment very quickly."
Last week, Congressman Nehls sent letters to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia, the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, and the Chief of Police for the United States Capitol Police demanding the parties to release all internal investigation documents regarding the death of Ms. Babbitt on January 6, 2021. These letters followed the release of a report citing 'no good intent' for the killing of Ms. Babbitt by Lt. Byrd.
