Rep. Nehls Votes Against Massive Socialist Spending Bill
Washington, DC — Today, Congressman Troy E. Nehls (R-TX-22) voted against H.R. 5376 – 'Build Back Better' Act. Provisions in this bill include a massive expansion of the Federal government, incentivization for illegal immigration, "green energy" tax credits for the wealthiest Americans, an $80 billion slush fund for the IRS, a new natural gas tax, and the enactment of fiscally detrimental policies. Following the vote, Congressman Nehls released the following statement:
"It is a sad day for the American people. While House Democrats cheer on their legacy of fast-tracking TRILLIONS of dollars of debt to fund socialist programs paid for by our grandchildren, it is the American taxpayer who is the loser," said Congressman Nehls. "In more places than not – this bill does the exact opposite of what we need. Americans need more money in their pocket – this bill will lead to higher taxes for many, and skyrocketing inflation for all. Inflation is at a 30-year high, and this bill will drive it up even higher. Americans need the border secured; this bill will incentivize MORE illegal immigration. Americans do not want these policies and Americans have done NOTHING to deserve this treatment by the government. The Congressional Budget Office said no. The American people said NO. Not only did Democrats not listen, but they also did not care. I vehemently oppose this far-left attempt to turn America into a socialist, cradle-to-grave welfare state."
