Rep. Troy E. Nehls Votes ‘NO’ on Continuing Bloated Spending Levels with No Border Security
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Troy E. Nehls (R-TX-22) released the following statement after voting ‘NO’ on the Continuing Resolution (CR):
“The American people cannot afford to continue suffering under Joe Biden and the Left’s reckless spending levels and failed policies that have led to the unprecedented crisis at our southern border,” said Congressman Nehls.
Over 8 million illegal aliens have crossed our nation’s borders since Joe Biden took office in 2021. The State of Texas is doing everything it can to protect Texans and cities and towns across the country that are being overrun by the border crisis. Meanwhile, the Senate and the White House refuse to even acknowledge H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act of 2023, the strongest border security package in our nation’s recent history. They refuse to do anything to relieve the American people from the border crisis that plagues our country.
While I commend Speaker Johnson’s efforts to claw back IRS and COVID-19 spending and fight for conservative policies, I simply cannot support another CR that enables Biden’s America Last policies, which have led to the worst border crisis in our nation’s history, waged war on American energy production and created a woke and weaponized bureaucracy.
We have an obligation to rein in wasteful government spending, fix Congress’ bloated spending problem, and not further perpetuate the border crisis by giving the Biden Administration funding to do so.”
